Congressionally Directed Spending

FY26 Congressionally directed spending

Senator Smith’s application for Congressionally Directed Spending is now open.  The Appropriations Committee has instituted a shortened timeline, so applications are due on April 22 at 12:00 PM Central Time.  Letters of support can be submitted after the deadline passes.

This year, the Appropriations Committee instituted new rules capping the number of projects Senators can submit to each subcommittee.  Under these rules, it is especially important that projects closely and clearly adhere to eligibility requirements.  Senator Smith will give preference to projects selected by the House and Senate Appropriations Committees during the last year’s process, because these awards were ultimately stripped out of the final bill and did not become law.
